Our operation began as a small blacksmith shop in 1894. This would become the shop we first opened in 1931. Since then, we’ve grown, expanding into our repair shop, gas station and snowmobile shop. Stop in and see us and say hello to Jerry Simonar and his team. While you’re here, enjoy a fresh cup of hot coffee in our waiting room. If you can’t wait with your vehicle, we have free local shuttle service. Our after-hours key drop is great for your early birds and night owls.

Our tire and auto repair shop started first as a blacksmith shop, first located at Sharp Corners (across the road from Rendezvous). John Simonar, Sr. purchased the land for the shop in 1894 in the Township of Montpelier, Section 6. Later, in 1941, he moved to his son's home in Luxemburg.
John, Jr., better known as Jack, purchased the former Charlie Kollross Blacksmith shop in South Luxemburg to continue the family business. In 1937, the old blacksmith shop was torn down and the materials were used to build a home. A new concrete block structure was erected and is still in use today.
Many people in the community depended on blacksmiths to aid in a variety of everyday tasks, including horseshoeing. After the rise of the automobile, horseshoeing gave way to tire changing and gasoline sales. Simonar Service followed suit and began offering tires as well as Texaco gasoline, which later switched to Shell in the 1940s.
In 1955, after Jack passed away, his sons Jerry and Richard took over the business, aided by their brother Leroy, who was still in school. Throughout the 1950's, the shop established itself in the Luxemburg community as the place to go for automotive help. In the 1960's, the shop expanded to include service for snowmobiles and boats, of which Leroy became manager.
What started as a blacksmith shop has now become a successful family business devoted solely to tires, car repairs, and towing services. We've also added a farm tire division, including support for on-the-road farm service.
In 1999, we built a new gas station on the corner of Main and Robin Lane.
Today, the third generation of Simonars is at work servicing customers throughout the area. Jon, Gary, B.J. and Dale work at the tire shop while David, Dean, Paul, and Mark support the snowmobile shop. The snowmobile shop is also home to Matt and Brad, fourth generation of family members.
From our family to yours, we hope that you stop in to see us when you need automotive assistance in Luxemburg. We're proud to be part of our community and are committed to serving you with the same tradition that's kept our business alive for decades.
